So, I have been living life and staying super busy and not really 'working' on losing weight like I want and need to be. With Jason still recovering from Spine Surgery and Aspen running around like crazy...I'm a pretty busy lady. (Note to self: Maybe the running after Aspen routine is good for you!)
Well, I got on the scale this evening and have lost 5 stinking pounds! I'm so excited! I am finally starting to get in a groove! My co-worker noticed it today! But it's probably only because I only see her once a week, but I will gladly take what she's dishing!
So, now that I am gaining momentum, I am going to make a goal for myself this next week.....DRINK MORE WATER. I don't do this well....I need to get some Gallon Water jugs and take them to work.....WATER flushes out toxins! Gotta do this.
So, I am going to have one goal every week to get to where I need to be. So now I need to start thinking about the following week......hmmmm the week before Christmas...Is it possible to cut out sugar?! We shall see sugarplums!

Back in the Saddle
So after 2 pregnancies and 1 baby later, I am back in the Lap Band Saddle! I have been soooooo busy the last 11 months with Aspen that I failed to take care of myself. In October, for my birthday present to myself, I went to get my band tightened again! That was on 10/20 and at my appointment on 11/17 I have already lost 7 lbs! Yay! I still have a long way to go but I'm ready to do this all over again.
So I've been on liquids the last 36 hours and already have lost 1.5 lbs. I love getting jump started it feels great! Today I get to start on soft foods, so I made Malt-o-Meal for breakfast. I can TOTALLY tell the I'm having good restriction!
I am ready to get in shape....I spent 4.5 months last year on bed rest to keep Aspen from coming early that I lost a lot of my muscle. However, after working the State Fair of Texas (www.bigtex.com) I regained a lot of stamina back. So DH and I are going to start walking every night. After the first of the year, I will be going to a friend's house to workout in her "devil" room of a home gym! That motivation will totally help the process!
So here we go again guys! I'm ready to shrink again!

Did you know this about CALORIES?
Did you know that in order to lose 1 pound of fat you have to burn/lose/reduce calories by 3500.??????
SERIOUSLY!!!
If I work out 5 days a week and DON'T change my eating at all I would have to burn 700 calories each day. WOW! I am sweating it now!
If I wanted to lose a pound a week without exercising, I could cut my caloric intake by 500 calories everyday for a week. But since I can't really choose certain "healthy" foods because they don't work well with the band, that's kinda what I have been doing.
But if I reduce my calories by 300 a day, and burn 400 calories days a week!! Whooo swimsuit season here I come!
So that is my thinking on the weight loss plateau (BRICK DANG WALL) I have hit. My body has gotten used to my work out program so it's time to shake things up a bit! I am going to start watching my calories and change up some things. Like starting back on my protein drinks as meal replacements...! Stay tuned love bunnies!
Who said you don't use math everyday!?!?!
So, get on board people! If you wanna lose the weight do it! The band only helped me get so far and now it is up to me to work it. And trust that I am! YOU can too! Find a work out program that works for you!
By the way! My new size 11 jeans that I got for Christmas are tooo baggy in the waist!! YAY! I love that! Also, my flat pizza box of a rear is really starting to shape up! Y'all would so be surprised and there is muscle in those buttocks! YAY!
XOXO

It's Working...OUT....is working!
3 Weeks have passed since I started my new exercise routine! I started week 4 today and whew! has life been exciting! As of today I have lost 8 pounds in 3 weeks and I have shed 15 inches! It's so crazy that the no nonsense idea of exercising and watching calories...really works!
I am now totally addicted to my routine and I have major guilt on my 2 days of rest...I feel bad about taking a day off! Which is super good!
I am sure that I will hit another wall, but trust me when I say that I have a plan to break through the wall! I will tell you when that happens!
I was updating my ID badge at work today, because people start telling me when my badge picture doesn't look lik eme anymore! So I dug through my old ones and I have posted a montage for everyone to see the changes! Crazy huh!? Far left pic is from 2004 when I first started at my job, and then top to bottom is as follows: 10/2007, 3/2008, 6/2008, and 2/2009!!! It's cool to see it all together!

Dedication and Hard Work
At work, the Employee Health Department is sponsoring a "Biggest Loser" weight loss competition and I really needed some motivation to get my exercise back on track like I was back in September. So, I am a 'ghost' participant! Meaning, that I am 'in' the program, but I am not playing for the money prize pot! I didn't want people to think I had an unfair advantage with the band, but one of the player did tell me....well, we could easily get on Rx diet pills to lose weight fast. Point, but either way, I am doing it for me!
So, the competition started 2 weeks ago and I started working out 5 days a week. I burn 300 calories on my Gazelle 5 days a week and two of those days I add in my Chico metrics DVD to burn off inches! And let me just tell you how much busting my hump has really helped!
READY FOR IT!!!!
I have lost 6 lbs and 12.45 inches in 2 weeks! OMG!!! I don't really have a choice on what I eat, however, I have cut out several foods that may have been road blocks for me in the past. I am super motivated and I feel like I HAVE to work out! It's all-consuming! Exercise really is addictive once you get in a routine. I learned recently that no matter how much or little your body is used to eating, the body gets used to those calories, so you hit a plateau. At that point, you have to start burning off calories! It works! I am so not kidding!
I am getting geared up to do the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer run in October 2009. Who wants to go!?!?!

New Year.....Fresh Start
Well, I know it's been awhile since I posted. I have had a lot of things going on in my life lately. And I have kinda retreated a bit trying to figure out what's been going on and how to move on.
When I began this weight loss journey, I had a lot of people in my life that were "there for me" and I was so excited to have everyone on board with me. I just wish I had known how hard it would be for me to handle all the changes that comes with losing weight. I know that I have changed physically, but my heart and soul have remained the same. So, I think more positively about myself which makes me carry myself different.....with my head held high. I don't think that is a bad thing....do you?
I have had the pleasure of meeting new friends, reconnecting with old friends, and loving my true friends. I have also had the displeasure of losing long time friends and several family members. This has truly broken my heart and worse it really damaged my spirit.
I know that there is no perfect person in the world and that we all do things that we think are justifiable, but hurting people whether intentional or not, is simply cruel. I have done a lost of soul searching and have chosen to keep living without the comforts of familiarity and move on without those who dragged me down and hurt me. Life is too short to accept negativity and lies. The worst that has come of this is that my trust has been compromised and I will never let that happen again. And I just don't know if I will ever be able to let a friend get that close EVER again.
I digress, I have been dwelling on changes that need to be made in my life and spring cleaning is the best way to describe it. Clean out the old clothes that have memories and are too big, get rid of accesories that I don't wear/use, toss the too big shoes that I can't bear to toss, let go of all the hurt that has invaded my heart, clean out all the unfinished projects that I never seem to finish and focus on one at a time, shave off these last 30-40 pounds that I WANT to lose before we start trying for a baby, and most of all clean out the cobwebs of my old memories and start new ones!
This is a new year that is so full of potential and I will hang on for dear life and make necessary changes to better my world! Thank you to Nicole and Skeeter for making me the godmother to your son, Wyatt....I will love him unconditionally. You have given me a new direction in life and thanks for always being there! Marianna, oh girl, what would I do without your crazy ways! Thanks for supporting me when I needed it most. Oh Sabrina, where would I be without your perspective and honesty? I don't think I could get through without you. Thanks for all our talks and your freindship. I'm so glad we met. Val, for understanding and just listening. Jason, for dealing with all my ups and downs with style and grace. Mom, for always keeping me real.

5 more pounds...Vegas Style
So apparently, Vegas agrees with me! I was there for a week and lost 5 lbs. But I am not too surprised, I couldn't eat hardly anything there and we WALKED everywhere! So, now I am down 70 lbs since Nov. 28, 2007. 11 months from surgery and I have lost 70 lbs! I am so happy for myself, but at the same time very sad.
I used to have people that I thought cared about me, but I guess I was wrong. It seems that jealousy and envy are more prevalent these days than anything. You know, all I ever wanted out of life was just that....LIFE. I want to live each day to the fullest, I want to laugh, be silly, cry, feel, walk, breathe, sleep, love, hug, hold, run, climb, skip, jump, dance, and be Heather. But it seems that some have forgotten about living. Well, I haven't....I wake up everyday and thank my lucky stars that I am alive and can walk to my car without gasping for breath and that I am able to live more fully since losing 70 lbs. My word, y'all, my whole life has become more healthy than I have ever been. Let's not forget that I no longer have to take Blood Pressure meds!! HELLOOO!!! HUGE....HBP leads to strokes and heart attacks! I am in the clear now! And the BIGGEST reason I took this journey was to get pregnant. I have been slowly reversing my infertility issues and will hopefully start trying to have a baby soon.
So, for those of you out there that think I have changed.....I HAVEN'T...I may be confident now (let's not forget I was pretty confident before) but so what, I am proud of myself......and from this point on I WILL ONLY SURROUND myself with people who support and love me no matter what. I can't afford the stress of drama in my life anymore. I will not lose hair anymore or feel like crap because someone else isn't comfortable being around me. GROW up....if you want to be around me fine, but be real with me! Because I get to choose who is there for me and who isn't. And right now my shit list is growing, and if I see one more eyeroll when I am talking about a victory, I swear I will go postal. If you don't wanna hear it, tell me and I will be sure not to talk to you. Period, it's not gonna hurt my feelings, just don't sit there and pretend everything is okay when it's not. We are grown ups, so let's act like it.
To those of you have been a constant stream of support (and you know who you are) I appreciate, love, and respect you more than you will EVER know. Thanks for your continued compliments, and never telling me to shut up because I brag about a new victory. I couldn't have done this without you. Thanks you for always being TRUE to your words and embracing me at every stage. I love you!
